MONDAY, July 5th – FRIDAY, July 9th FROM 2:00PM – 4:00PM Cakes are the perfect way to celebrate any occasion, and perfect cakes can be achieved with just a touch of skill and some patience. In this hands-on class led by Chef Lee Baker, students will learn how to properly measure, mix, bake, fill, frost and decorate cakes. We’ll start with basic cake formulas to build up confidence and end with more advanced, composed, layer cakes. Specific skills include proper measuring, different mixing techniques, how to test for doneness (from cakes to custards), and – last but not least – layering and decorating for picture perfect cakes! Monday – Breakfast Cakes Mini Apple Streusel Sour Cream Coffee Cake, Crepe Cake with Cream Cheese Filling Tuesday – Butter Cakes Lemon Pound Cake, Devil’s Food Layer Cake with Chocolate Ganache Frosting Wednesday – Sponge-Type Cakes Raspberry Jelly Roll, Vanilla Angel Food Cake Thursday – Custard Cakes New York-Style Cheesecake, Flourless Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce Friday – Petit Fours Peanut Butter and Jelly Petits Fours No prior cooking or baking experience is required, just an interest to learn. For safety reasons, please tie long hair back and wear closed-toed shoes.
