Kids in the Kitchen – Around the World – 5 Day Camp This camp is designed for kids ages 8 to 12 years old. MONDAY, July 24th THROUGH FRIDAY, July 28th Class runs 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Everyday In this 5-day hands-on cooking series, Chef Drew Flanders will inspire your child to experience foods from around the globe. We will discuss, cook and taste famous foods from around the world, while learning a bit about geography, and exploring the different ingredients and flavor profiles. Each day, we will create delicious recipes from the “Region of the Day” as our skilled culinary team assists, as you practice knife skills and become more familiar with everyday kitchen equipment. Pack your food passport and experience a different destination every day!Monday – Middle East Chicken Kabobs, Hummus with Grilled Flatbread and VeggiesTuesday – Italy Handmade Pasta with fresh Tomato Sauce and a Caesar Salad with Homemade CroutonsWednesday – Vietnam Pork (or Tofu) Banh Mi, Lettuce Wraps with ShrimpThursday – Mexico Chicken and Black Bean Quesadillas, Grilled Corn SaladFriday – Argentina Grilled Steak with Chimichurri, Grilled Veggies and Potatoes All classes are taught by a Culinary Professional, with 2 adult assistants. No prior experience required, just an interest to learn. Please tie long hair back, wear closed toed shoes and a mask. Get Your Grill On – Mediterranean Style Land meets Sea in this perfect hands on grilling class where Chef Barbara Sowatsky will share her tried and tested recipes for grilling the perfect steak, the secrets to grilling shrimp to perfection and to make the most of the heat of the grill to prepare stone fruit for dessert. Everything can be prepared in advance so you can spend more time with your guests. You’ll also learn how to make two important Mediterranean staples; summer sauces and salads each prepared with fresh herbs and veggies ripe from the garden. Italian Kitchen Pasta Dinner This classic Italian dinner menu is the perfect meal to serve any day for a special family dinner. In this class, restaurant secrets will be revealed so that pulling off the sophisticated sauces and finishing techniques can easily be duplicated at home. Chef Barbara Sowatsky will teach you to make, roll and cut pasta dough into beautiful fresh pappardelle pasta. You will learn to pull together sophisticated pan reduction with ease, elegance and little cleanup. Mardi Gras – 2022 You don’t have to visit the Big Easy to enjoy this hands-on class. Chef Drew Flanders, who spent many years in New Orleans, will bring Mardi Gras to you in this class that captures the legendary Cajun and Creole flavors of Louisiana. Join us as we “pass a good time” and cook our way down Bourbon Street. In true Mardi Gras style, we’ll laisse les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll) by starting with a traditional Sazerac cocktail! Then we will roll up our sleeves and get busy cooking a meal that will get you ready to catch some beads and dance with the second line! Learn to make easy shellfish stock, flavorful rice -without a rice cooker!-, and dark gumbo roux, a true labor of love, that makes all the difference in a perfect gumbo. You will cook and enjoy; Traditional Sazerac Cocktail Seafood Gumbo; loaded with Oysters, King Crab & Gulf Shrimp Bay and Thyme-Scented Rice Served with a Green Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette & French Bread
Dumplings, Dumplings Asian dumplings are a very versatile vehicle for juicy meats and savory vegetables. In this in-depth hands on class you will learn the difference between Cantonese and Shanghai style dumplings. Let Chef Thanh Tang teach you how to make three different kinds of dumpling wrappers, and fillings (pork, shrimp and vegetable) while learning the proper techniques of folding and pleating dumplings. You will gain a range of skills from the basic understanding of Chinese ingredients to the all the proper dough work. Join Spanish-educated and trained, Chef Yary, and take a trip for the evening to learn how to prepare the perfect gluten-free, celebration menu. You’ll learn from the Paella Master tips about choosing the right rice, where to get the best saffron, and the difference between Mexican and Spanish chorizo. You’ll leave this class with the confidence to make this Spanish feast at home. Olé! Guests are greeted with tapas made by Chef Yary and a carafe of sangria, white or red wine. Then you’ll learn how to prepare: Paella Mixta (a seafood & meat paella stuffed with shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari, pork ribs, chorizo and chicken in a tomato saffron sofrito sauce) Asparagus, Piquillo Peppers and Caramelized Leeks topped with Lemon Herb Vinaigrette A group of 2 or more can choose to make a vegetarian, all meat, or all seafood version.
