Hum-ble Bao Workshop

Bao means to wrap or package in Chinese. When a filling is wrapped in dough, it becomes a Bao bun – a staple in Chinese culture and a treat for hungry appetites. Designed for the adventurous and dexterous baker, this class offered techniques and recipes for crafting these beloved buns from start to finish. In this hands on workshop with Chef Thanh Tang, you’ll gain recipes for 2 yeasted doughs, a ‘pineapple’ crust, and 2 different fillings. Then, practice the art of wrapping these humble buns using proper technique before cooking them up using two different methods – steaming and baking.

You will make:

  • Mushroom Cabbage Bao (steamed)
  • Chicken Cilantro Bao (steamed)
  • BBQ Pork Bao (baked)
