Classes Classes Teens at Whisk – Taste of Italy, 5-Days August 5, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - August 9, 2019 @ 4:00 pm Venue Whisk + Add to Calendar+ Add to Google Cal+ Add to iCal Classes are designed for boys and girls ages 13 and up! In this week long session, our teens will tie on their aprons and learn to make classic Italian food from various regions. Hands-on in every aspect, they will have a chance to hone their culinary skills while we visit our favorite place to eat – Italy! Our Italian expert, Chef Barbara Sowatsky will walk you through authentic and hands-on preparations of everything from Pasta to Pizza, with many specialties like Aranccini and Tiramisu, plus more! We will practice knife skills, sauteing, searing, dough basics, saucing and more fundamentals as we visit the various regions of Italy, shaped by the vast landscape and history of the country. Each day you will learn a little history, practice your skills and enjoy a delicious Italian meal. We will make: MONDAY, August 5th TO FRIDAY, August 9th CLASS RUNS FROM 2:00 PM TO 4:00 PM, Everyday Monday – Neapolitan Region Quick Handmade Pizza Dough Pizza – Stretched and Shaped and Topped (any way you like) and Struffoli (bits of sweet fried dough, drizzled with honey and sprinkles) Tuesday – Rome Handmade Pasta Dough, rolled and cut Fresh Alfredo Sauce Fettuccini Alfredo Caesar Salad Bombolini (Italian donuts) Wednesday – Sicily Arancini (appetizer, stuffed rice balls, breaded and fried) Grilled Steak Marsala (a classic Italian sauce) with Vesuvio Potatoes (cooked with classic Italian Herbs) Fresh Fruit Crostata (a rustic fruit pie) Thursday – Northern Region Calamari Fritti on Greens (a a classic Italian antipasto) Gnocchi (a cute potato dumpling) with a Pink Sauce Tirimisu (a beautiful dessert of cream and lady fingers) Friday – Milan Zucchini Saltimbocca (crunchy outside, cheesy inside) Chicken Piccata (pounded, and sauced with capers and lemon) Creamy Risotto (arborio rice, cooked slowly with stock) Chocolate Panna Cotta (Italian-style rich pudding) No prior cooking experience is required, just an interest to learn.
