Kids in the Kitchen – What’s Cookin’ for Dinner in America
This 5-day camp is designed for kids 8 to 12 years old.

In this week-long, engaging cooking camp, we will discuss, cook and taste favorite foods that adorn American dinner tables throughout the United States. Taught by Chef Lee Baker, this hands-on class will learn about flavor profiles that make each region distinct while we create several favorite recipes from different parts of the country. Every day we will practice knife skills and become more familiar with everyday kitchen equipment. Come ready to learn “What’s Cookin’ in America!”
Monday – The Northeast
Buffalo Chicken Wings, Philly Cheesesteak, Steak Fries with Heinz Ketchup
Tuesday – The South
Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Creamy Mashed Potatoes, Milk and Honey Corn on the Cobb
Wednesday – The Midwest
Baby Back Pork Ribs with Homemade BBQ Sauce, Baked Beans, Creamy Coleslaw
Thursday – The Southwest
Taco Night: Homemade Corn Tortillas, Grilled Beef Skirt Steak, Guacamole and Salsa
Friday – The Pacific Northwest
Salmon Baked in a Bag (parchment pouch), Gratin of Potato and Chanterelle Mushrooms
Mixed Green Salad with Marionberry Vinaigrette
- All classes are taught by a Culinary Professional, with 2 adult assistants.
- No prior cooking experience is required, just an interest to learn.
- For safety reasons, please tie long hair back and wear closed-toed shoes.
- Students will be working with flour, butter and eggs and so we cannot accommodate students with allergies to working with gluten, dairy or eggs.
