Kids in the Kitchen – Batters, Doughs and Macarons Week-Long Day Camp
These classes are designed for kids ages 8 to 12!
Get the basics of baking a variety of favorites ingrained early! Pastry Chef Thanh Tang, previously at Poppy, will teach your kids baking techniques that get foolproof results: measuring for consistency, mixing processes and best ingredients to use … also, hints and tips for how to adjust a basic recipe for endless variations. Hand selected, kid-tested favorites will be taught in a way that makes learning fun and builds lasting pride. Each day campers will sample their creations and take some home to share!
MONDAY, February 18th to FRIDAY, February 22nd
Class Runs 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Everyday
Monday – Breakfast Baked Goods: Cheddar Scones, Blueberry Muffins and Buttermilk Pancakes
Tuesday – Dough: Pizza Dough, a Tomato Sauce, a Pizza of Choice and Pretzels
Wednesday – Cakes: Lemon Coconut Chiffon Cake with Coconut Buttercream Frosting and Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting
Thursday – Macrons: Blueberry and Apple & Almond and Lemon Macrons with Almond Buttercream
Friday – Pies:Flaky Pie Crust for a Chicken Pot Pie and Cherry Hand Pies
- All classes are taught by a Culinary Professional, with 2 adult assistants.
- No prior cooking experience is required, just an interest to learn.
- For safety reasons, please tie long hair back and wear closed toed shoes.
- Students will be working with flour, butter and eggs and so we cannot accommodate students with allergies to working with gluten, dairy or eggs.
