Inspired By One of Our Favorite NW Hot Spots- POK POK

Pok Pok, named for the sound a wooden pestle makes when it strikes a clay mortar. Pok Pok is a cookbook and guide to bold, authentic Thai cooking from Andy Ricker, the chef and owner of the wildly popular and widely lauded Pok Pok Portland restaurants and now the inspiration for this hands-on class, taught by Chef Barbara Sowatsky. In this hands-on class you will make Ike’s AMAZING Vietnamese Chicken Wings, Phat Si Ew (Stir-fried Noodles with Beef,  Broccoli)  Shrimp Satay, with Cucumber Relish and Som Tam Thai (Papaya Salad with Long Beans and Cabbage)

Andy Ricker is the chef and owner of Pok Pok, Whiskey Soda Lounge, Pok Pok Noi and Sen Yai in Portand.  He also has Pok Pok Ny and Whisky Soda Lounge NY in New York City.  He is the winner of the James Beard Award for the Best Chef in the Northwest and is considered the Jacques Pepin of Thai cooking.  He has acquired a bit of a cult following and these recipes are just a sampling of favorites.
