Its Cinco de Mayo – Celebrate with Street Tacos & Margaritas

Let the celebration begin! Cinco de Mayo commentates the date of the Mexican Army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.  A relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage. Please join Chef Edna Kainz as she guides you through creation of the local flavors of Mexico with this crowd-pleasing menu. In this hands-on class, you will make and enjoy:

Street Tacos and Salsas
Chipotle Chicken Tinga for Tacos or Tostadas
Baja Fish Tacos with Cilantro Crema, Serve with Slaw

In addition:

Edna will show you how to toast Mexican Chilies to make Salsa de Chile Morita,
Green Tomatillo Salsa, Fresh and Roasted, and
Salsa de la Casa Martajada

Served with Fresh Guacamole

All Enjoyed with Edna’s recipe for a top shelf Margarita or Paloma (and 1860 drink originated in Tequila Jalisco).

Chef Edna’s heritage is a cultural fusion: growing up with an Austrian father and Italian/Spanish mother in Mexico City, she developed a natural passion for these cultures and cuisines. Color, explosion of flavors and the immense variety makes Mexican food her favorite!  The experience of gathering simple, fresh ingredients and sharing unforgettable meals just feeds her soul. For her, food is magical and she believe food has the power to transform, break barriers and bring people together.
