Join Chef Shama Joshi with some of her favorite Indian breakfast ideas that you need to try! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so never hold back on flavor. While these dishes are packed with spices blends known to Indian cuisine, they are easily delicious for dinner too! Forgot the toast and try some of these meals for your first meal of the day.

Shama followed her passion for feeding others after fulfilling a fourteen-year career at Microsoft as a Senior Engineer and started a food truck called Roll Ok Please. Recognized as one of the top 20 places to eat in Seattle by Anthony Bourdin, Roll OK Please was a huge hit with the Seattleites but has recently wound down. Lucky for us! She brings her love of food and people to us with this lively class.

Poha – Seasoned, flattened rice

A favorite from the state of Maharashtra, this is a dish made with flattened rice and seasoned with curry leaves, asafetida and peanuts for crunch.

Uttapam – savory pancakes

A southern Indian favorite, this is a savory lentil-rice pancake, served with a savory coconut chutney

Sheera or Sooji Halwa

A sweet breakfast food with toasted semolina, cardamom, saffron syrup and nuts. A favorite in most parts of India.
